We are seeking a Principal Engineer (Network Security) with knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle and network security principles in the defence space.
The key duties for the Principal Engineer includes:
- Select, implement and test Unidirectional Gateways
- Knowledge of NCSC Architecture and guidance on Import and Export Patterns, and their application to cross-domain solutions
- Preparation of technical security solutions for formal accreditation
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers and support the engineering management team in planning and controlling specialist activities
The knowledge and experience required for the Principal Engineer role includes:
- Infrastructure hardware (physical rack mounted equipment) and virtualisation technologies at hardware and container levels
- Administration functions within a virtualised environment – including virtual resource management, resilience (HA & DRS), clustering and performance monitoring, understanding of containerised or micro-service architectures
- Orchestration and deployment tools (automation, scripting)
- Understanding of Agile and Scrum project frameworks desirable but not essential
- Server operating system administration (Windows, Linux knowledge particularly useful)
- Understand configuration and management of hardware and software based networks
- Network architectures and topologies, and switching, routing and firewalls
- Ability to respond to technical queries and perform troubleshooting investigations where necessary, with full root-cause analysis and rectification plan creation
- Provide support for design reviews
- Experience of working under change control processes
- An understanding or experience of Information Assurance
